Miller, professor at Eastern Mennonite University, from 2001-2003. I currently serve on staff as small group supervisor and visual artist. In addition, I serve on the board and faculty of the Texas United Methodist Charis Spiritual Direction Training Program. I abide by the SDI Guidelines ethical conduct.

If you were to come and sit with me for a spiritual direction session ... we would spend about an hour together. When you arrive we'd chit chat just long enough to clear out the clutter from our minds. As we "cross the threshold into holy space" I light a candle. "Come Spirit Come" I whisper. We breathe deeply of the silence and sit in gentle space ... When you are ready, you share your life, your struggles, and your joy. I might ask a question or two to evoke a deeper exploration "Where is God in all of this?" Spiritual Direction is "life-sustaining" rather than problem-solving.
