Creating a collage is a way of allowing our unconscious to speak to us. There are no rules when it comes to creativity.
I'll share my process with you but I encourage you to develop your own way of engaging your creativity. You are only limited by your own sense of boundaries and the negative messages you allow to stop your creativity!

Listening to our Lives...
1) Look through magazines you are drawn to ... one with images that are affirming OR challenging to you ... You can set your theme before you start and work toward the theme OR you can begin with the images and let the theme emerge.
2) Give yourself freedom to choose pictures without knowing why ... pay attention to choices and emotions that emerge.
3) Cut or tear out pictures you like. Set them to the side until you have a nice set of images.
4) When you are ready, arrange images on a piece of posterboard or cardstock ... you can do smaller collages in a journal.
5) When creating a collage, it is like putting pieces of life together ... it's a mosaic! ... Engagement in this creative medium helps to provide a helpful snapshout of the inner life and yet it is a challenging way to encounter God.
6) Work with your images and create a layout that looks good to you ... glue the pieces down so that you can use your collage to meditate with. Let your personal creative style guide you. You can stay inside the boundaries or you can let your images move outside the boundaries ... there are no rules!
7) Hot Tip: Laminate your collage mosaic so that it stays in excellent condition.
Now you are ready to meditate and journal with your collage and allow it to to speak!
